The BL 144, when compared with the very popular BL 154 hooks, has a heavier gauge wire that is medium (1Xstrong) vs standard wire and a wider gape. The hook eyes are in the same plane as the hook bend. The BL154 has a transverse hook eye sitting 90 degrees to the hook shank.
